About

Why this site exists and who it's for.

Our mission

Help real people understand their options when money is tight — in plain English, for free, with no strings attached.

Why we built this site

Millions of people in the United States live on $3,000 a month or less. That covers rent, food, doctor visits, transportation, phone bills, and everything else. It's hard. And when you need help, the system is confusing on purpose — long forms, agency jargon, phone numbers that go nowhere.

Programs exist for almost every problem: help with rent, free food, low-cost health care, utility bill relief, and more. But most people never find them — or don't understand how to apply. We built this site to fix that.

📖

Plain English

No government jargon. We write like we're explaining to a friend — not filing a report.

💰

Free, always

No premium content, no subscriptions, no fees. Every guide on this site is free to read.

🔍

Independent

We have no affiliation with any government agency, company, or nonprofit. No one pays us to promote programs.

📍

Local matters

Most programs are run locally. We tell you who to call in your state — not just a national 800 number.

🔄

Kept up to date

Program rules change. We update our guides regularly so the information you read is current.

📱

Works on any phone

Many readers use this site on older phones with limited data. We keep it fast and readable.

What we are NOT

We are not a government agency. We do not give out money. We do not process applications. We do not provide legal or financial advice. We are an independent informational website — we explain programs so you know where to start.

Who runs this site

LivingOn3K.com is run by the same team behind GrantsForSeniors.org, a free resource site helping older adults find benefits and assistance programs. We saw the same problem in a broader population — people who need help but can't find it or understand it — and built this site to address it.

We are a small independent team, not a company with investors. We cover our costs through a small number of display ads (clearly marked) and affiliate links to books and tools we genuinely recommend. We never accept payment to promote any program or service.
